We live in an age of identity politics, and even in the identity-politics-rejecting right, it is still necessary to identify yourself. One recent political label is ‘Delcon’, which – for an epithet of such recent provenance – is surprisingly varied in its range of meanings. Get ready, I’m going in: first up, ‘Delcon’: delusional conservative (Miranda Devine, circa April 2016) – a disgruntled supporter of Tony Abbott, who is working against the political interests of the party.
