In other words the CPS and BTP were not acting on the basis of a misdirected but well-intentioned zeal but of a deliberate, cold-blooded attempt to secure a conviction that they knew would be false. The question is why and ultimately the answer to that is that whole concept of ‘hate crime’ is an ideological construct that requires convictions in order to justify its underpinning assumption that the great mass of the population are possessed of a violent antipathy towards various designated ‘minorities’.
