What’s woke this pandemic?

The world has lost its collective head and pandemic pandemonium is the new normal. Those who inhabit the world of woke have gone into overdrive instead of just retreating to their homes with a good book and ordering takeaway.

The usual suspects —  journalists and celebrities — have used coronovarius as a platform to blame Trump for everything, ramp up climate change rhetoric, bang on about trans rights, and signal their virtue.  Seems like the more things change in the real world, the more they stay the same in Wokeworld.

Trans- tarrying

What is the one group that’s really suffering in this pandemic? If you answered seniors you should be ashamed. You should actually be worried about the plight of those awaiting trans surgeries, according to the ever-reliable Vice.

Proving it can stay right on message, even in the midst of a pandemic, one of their big stories from last week was ‘As hospitals prepare for Covid-19, Life-saving Trans surgeries are delayed’.

You can read about the whole unfolding tragedy here but no doubt you’ll be shocked to learn the following:

Though medical facilities may soon become overtaxed for everyone, the coronavirus pandemic has shed light on how transgender people’s care can be treated as “non-essential.”

[I]n the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, trans communities on Reddit and Twitter are being flooded with reports of postponed and canceled surgeries in the U.S., U.K., Spain, Thailand, and elsewhere, leading to enormous stress and disappointment on top of a global health crisis.

Doctors and patients obviously want any necessary procedure performed, but currently, the idea is that they are not immediately life-threatening, and limited space in hospitals could be better used for patients affected by COVID-19.

Shock, horror.

Anti-boomer bile

The sneering British broadcaste Ed Conway delivered his own OK Boomer put down writing in The Times last week, and it was a ripper.

Here’s his eye-watering opening:

Don’t take this the wrong way but if you were a young, hardline environmentalist looking for the ultimate weapon against climate change, you could hardly design anything better than coronavirus.

Unlike most other such diseases, it kills mostly the old who, let’s face it, are more likely to be climate sceptics. It spares the young. Most of all, it stymies the forces that have been generating greenhouse gases for decades.

So this is the pandemic we had to have, one that can get rid of inconvenient boomer climate change sceptics and rapacious capitalism in the one stroke.

A Gal and her pals

The confederation of the clueless that is Hollywood went all out this week with a cheery little message to buck up the masses in their time of need. Where would we be without their vacuous virtue-signalling to keep us all going?

Gal Gadot, clearly taking the whole Wonder Woman heroine thing way too seriously, got a bunch of her Hollywood pals to sing from the confines of their very splendid isolation. And their song of choice was one loved by bad karaoke singers and communists alike; domestic violence aficionado John Lennon’s nauseatingly hackneyed woke anthem, Imagine.

Proving that empty vessels make the most and worst sound, and that none of them should give up their day jobs (well, maybe a few should give it a long hard think), you can watch their woeful wailings here if you’re game. It even includes a cameo from Natalie Portman, who appears to have learned nothing from the furore surrounding her last spot of hollow halo hunting at the Academy Awards. Remember the cape embroidered with the names of allegedly ‘snubbed’ female directors, none of whom Portman had actually worked with?

Let off the leash by PR people and with plenty of time on their hands, many of these people look like they’re sadly in need of their minders, not to mention their hairdressers.

Imagine no possessions? A much easier task for the local restaurant worker who has just lost his job and ability to feed his family than for the narcissistic uber rich telling us that ‘we’re all in this together’.

Trump thump

One of Wokeworld’s favourite pastimes is blaming Trump for everything and the coronavirus pandemic is another excuse to assign some more blood to his already scarlet-stained hands. The baying MSM can even attribute blame to Trump for the stupid, life-threatening actions of people all around the globe.

Early in the week, our own Sydney Morning Herald went with the following headline for a story about the coronavirus increase in Africa:

Coronavirus takes hold in Africa, as chloroquine deaths follow Trump promotion

Buried deep in the article you’ll find the following:

Nigeria also reported two cases of chloroquine poisoning after US President Donald Trump praised the anti-malaria drug as a treatment for the novel coronavirus.

But then the worldwide MSM went ballistic after an Arizona couple in their sixties took chloroquine phosphate, a chemical used to clean fish tanks, because they thought it might prevent coronavirus. As you do. Tragically, the man died. And his wife blamed Trump. As you do.

Headlines around the world Trump-eted:

The Guardian: Arizona man dies after attempting to take Trump coronavirus ‘cure’

TIME: Arizona Man Dies After Taking Chemical in Coronavirus Treatment Touted by President Trump

BuzzFeed: A Man Died After Self-Medicating With A Drug Trump Promoted As A Potential Treatment For The Coronavirus

None of the stories made the point that the form of the drug that the couple ingested was not the same as medication that is used to treat malaria; the one that Trump mentioned at a press conference had achieved good results in the fight against coronavirus in France.

While a couple of outlets later changed the wording of their headlines, they didn’t reduce their emphasis on Trump’s culpability, or the overall bias of their stories.

Orange man still very, very bad.
