White Comcars reflect our colonial past? Really?

The 6 Series GT BMW cars that replaced the taxpayer-funded Comcar fleet made up of Holden Caprices are being withdrawn from the market, according to today’s News Corporation chip wrappers

Earlier this year (Finance Minister Mathias) Mr Cormann confirmed to the Senate Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee hearing, he chose the model’s new colour of dark grey for the Comcar fleet as the old white fleet reflected “a bit of a colonial past”.

“I think that … the white colour, in my mind, reflects a bit of a colonial past that we’ve moved on from and I think the colour chosen for the Comcars is a better reflection of a modern, forward-looking Australia.”

Dark grey? How modern? How upbeat? But also how inoffensive at the same time … the colour of woke?

There is no truth to the rumour that white houses in Australia will attract higher council rates to encourage them being repainted dark grey. Nor will all white goods follow suit. And talk of white people being sprayed dark grey is silly. Most of us look grey already, thanks to our disgust with woke disease.

Woke Note: Bob Menzies’ prime ministerial Bentley — seen here on the special platform he used at Princes Park so he could watch his beloved Blues play from the vehicle — was black. Woke before his time? It was Gough Whitlam who switched to a white car, a Mercedes Benz 450SL.
