This has been true for a long time, but the response to Covid has shone a massive spotlight on reality. Responsibilities that belong to elected politicians have been offloaded onto the so-called ‘faceless men’ behind the curtain of democracy. 

Be it Chief Health Officers, other public servants, bureaucrats, or even foreign entities, we are all subjected to rules and decisions made by people unworthy of power.
