This was the week when the stark contrast between the relative talents of the top three individuals in the federal government and the opposition were on proud display for all to see.

Firstly, the two leaders. Tony Abbott’s values were writ large over recent pronouncements: a reliance on the individual, a disdain for the faux politics of ‘compassion’ and a steadfast commitment to national security.
