I disagree. We knew quite a lot about gay culture in the 80’s, don’t forget the likes of Bronski Beat and Frankie Goes to Hollywood, it never crossed my mind they weren’t gay. The ‘change’ (in attitudes) came in the 60s, without it the legislation to decriminalise in the 70s wouldn’t have been possible.
