My experience has been similar to Mr Wilkinson’s. In my case it was not a matter of choosing the company I kept because the problem was with work colleagues, over whom I had no control.

If you seriously think that listening to opera, Beethoven and James MacMillan is “unremarkable” in all “normal” circles in Scotland, you are seriously deluded.
