The point, which you are evidently too shallow-minded to perceive, is not that particular tastes are unremarkable, but that diversity of taste is. To whatever extent you and your equally whiny chum are the ‘victims’ of cultural prejudice, you are hardly more likely to be so than those who profess a liking for the music of Chas & Dave or the literature of Mills & Boon.
