After a slow start 2016 turned out to be a pretty good year for Australian writing, with excellent books across a range of subjects. One of the best was Finding Sanity (Allen & Unwin), a biography of John Cade, the Melbourne doctor who developed lithium as a treatment for bi-polar disorder and other mental health problems.
