Homophobia AND cultural appropriation?

I know that every man and his dog in business wants to benefit commercially from the “pink dollar” and the general joy over the legalisation of same-sex marriage, but sometimes you can get carried away. Like the good people at Hyundai and their advertising agency:

Never mind that pinatas are a terrible cultural appropriation of a Mexican custom. Bashing a rainbow donkey until it breaks apart and spills its contents also clearly encourages homophobia and violence against gay men (even if the sticks are also rainbow-hued).

Sometimes, when you try to be woke you just show how unwoke you really are. Shame on you, Hyundai.

Arthur Chrenkoff blogs at The Daily Chrenk where this piece also appears.
