Be very careful what you’re consenting to

Every single human being should be concerned about the current push to review sexual consent laws. Earlier this week the Berejikilian government commissioned a review of laws following the ABC Four Corners program on the Lazarus case. New South Wales could soon enact the toughest sexual consent laws in the country.

Using one case, heartbreaking as it may well be, to utterly reshape the legal process is incredibly dangerous.

In truth, far left feminists have been waiting for the opportunity to push the issue of ‘consent’. Anyone who has watched this play out in the US will attest to that.

And now they have it. Worryingly, they also have an outpouring of emotion and sympathy to layer their case with.

Soon, NSW could have consent laws equal to Tasmania. These laws require “active consent”, also being discussed as “enthusiastic consent”.

Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Pru Goward, said it was “not enough to assume that you have been given consent.” She added, “You must explicitly ask for permission to have sex. If it’s not an enthusiastic yes, then it’s a no. I feel that this is where the law in NSW needs to go. That is certainly the case in Tasmania and I’m hopeful that the Law Reform Commission will come to a similar conclusion.”

Just. Like. That.

Anyone, regardless of gender, who does not see how perilous these reforms could be, needs to pay more attention to human beings. These reforms would mean a failure to say no is not evidence of agreement. In addition, when consent can be withdrawn – and how that is proven – will come under scrutiny.

The Sydney Morning Herald said, “Any change in the law is likely to be hard-fought and controversial.”

And isn’t that rightly so?

Anyone who believes in true equality should make themselves aware and very well-versed in this discussion.

Anyone who believes in true equality rather than female supremacy should ensure they are vocal in their response to this and give such reforms a resounding and incredibly enthusiastic “NO”.

The reality of sexual encounters in modern society is not this straightforward or clear-cut.

The extreme left, men-hating pocket of politics is about to play this government for fools.
