Britain is heading for an election on 12 December. MPs are currently voting to confirm the Government’s preferred date for a snap poll after the Commons rejected Jeremy Corbyn’s bid to shift the polling date to 9 December.

Earlier today Jeremy Corbyn confirmed Labour would back Boris Johnson’s plan for a snap poll.
