White Comcars reflect our colonial past? Really?

The 6 Series GT BMW cars that replaced the taxpayer-funded Comcar fleet made up of Holden Caprices are being withdrawn from the market, according to today’s News Corporation chip wrappers

Earlier this year (Finance Minister Mathias) Mr Cormann confirmed to the Senate Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee hearing, he chose the model’s new colour of dark grey for the Comcar fleet as the old white fleet reflected “a bit of a colonial past”.  

“I think that … the white colour, in my mind, reflects a bit of a colonial past that we’ve moved on from and I think the colour chosen for the Comcars is a better reflection of a modern, forward-looking Australia.” 

Dark grey? How modern? How upbeat? But...
