From The Age:

Labor upper house MP Cesar Melhem… said… some… MPs found it difficult to secure employment after… politics…

Victorian Parliamentary Former Members Association president and former Labor MP Peter Loney said there was an incorrect perception that retired MPs… “all lived happily on millions of dollars of super…”

“The ones who do that are a remarkably small percentage [and] what we’ve found is many members of parliament have great difficulty finding work of any type.”

Which begs the question… How do these people end up there in the first place? What do these people offer — other than skills at stacking or remarkably agile tongues (and no trepidation where they put them)?
