I am big on truth in political advertising which is why I think that so called planning departments should be given their correct title. In NSW, that should be Central Planning NSW.

You see the central planners in Central Planning NSW have:

… proposed new rules capping the number of people allowed to pick fruit on private farms, allowing only 50 people per day to attend the farms and a maximum of 10 days per year that these farms are allowed to open for Pick-Your-Own.

Permit me to translate.

For private citizens to allow other private citizens to enter onto private property to engage in voluntary private exchange …. you need to get the permission of a cabal of planning bureaucrats. But according to the bureaucrats who make a comfortable living from the taxes of such private exchanges, such private exchanges must be regulated and limited.

Why? Because they said so. NSW government by Kafka.

You have to love the logic:

The government is seeking to create relevant planning controls to assist in regulating the growing Agritourism sector to create certainty and transparency for both business operators and the community. The reforms would mean that farms would be limited to 50 people per fruit picking session. For functions and tours for more than 30 guests, farms would be limited to only 10 events per year.

It is meant to create certainty and transparency for both business operators and the community.

Well. These businesses are already operating so there’s the certainty. And what kind of transparency is required?

Busybodies empowered by government.

Every time I hear the NSW government referred to as Liberal, I must but laugh. this is just another big state, anti-citizen proposal cooked up in the bowels of a department that only exists from the toil of others. Others that this government central planning cancer seeks to eradicate.

Disgusting. Pathetic. Anti-government. Very Liberal Party.

So much for their beliefs:

We Believe:

in the inalienable rights and freedoms of all people: we work towards a lean government that minimises interference in our daily lives and maximises individual and private-sector initiative;

in government that nurtures and encourages its citizens through initiative, rather than putting limits on people through the punishing disincentive of burdensome taxes and the stifling structures of Labor’s corporate state and bureaucratic red tape;
