Boris Johnson will today announce his resignation as Prime Minister, with an official statement outside Downing Street expected later this morning. After more than 50 resignations, Johnson’s position was deemed untenable by the majority of his parliamentary colleagues – a verdict which the PM himself has, reluctantly, accepted. Already the question in Westminster is turning to one of succession: Suella Braverman announced last night on ITV that she intends to run for the leadership.
