In Sweden, the Sverigedemokraterna (Sweden Democrats) grew from 1 per cent of the vote in 2002 to a controlling majority of 20.5 per cent this year, with leader Jimmie Åkesson – in true Scandinavian pragmatism – vowing to ‘make Sweden good again’.
