‘Oh?’ I said. ‘Who can’t do what? What papers?’
‘You know. Our marriage papers. For the ceremony.’
‘Papers? Marriage? Ours? Ceremony?’
‘Well, not exactly marriage. Of course not. It’s a civil partnership.
