The indictment of former president Donald Trump as part of an investigation into hush money paid in 2016 to an ex porn star is striking for a number of reasons. There is its historic nature, unprecedented and indicative of the weaponisation of government entities by partisans who head them. Trump is accused of having an affair with Stormy Daniels and paying her to keep quiet.
