This week, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is visiting Washington to mark the 70th anniversary of the US-South Korea security alliance. It is the first state visit by a South Korean leader since 2011.
The Biden administration is keen to strengthen ties with its stalwart ally which plays an important role in counterbalancing China’s rising influence and North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.
