Green Hydrogen limps toward inevitable demise

Fortescue Metals Group, a leading Australian iron ore miner, has been actively pursuing green hydrogen as a key component of its decarbonisation strategy. Green hydrogen reportedly results in no carbon dioxide emission or production.

In May 2024, Fortescue launched its first US green hydrogen production project. It represented a $550 million investment in a facility to produce up to 11,000 tons of liquid green hydrogen annually.
