Flag waving

Sir: Just wondering if you can explain why the Aboriginal flag is flown along side the Australian flag. Since when did aboriginals have a flag or even the means of making one? I thought they were a collection of warring nomads/hunter gatherers and not a uniform collective that had the skills or know-how to make something our of material (as we know material as being made out of grown cotton fibre).
