The 868-page report of the official inquiry into Australia’s Covid-19 response, like the inquiry itself, is not fit for purpose. Bottom line: This is a report of, by, and for the public health clerisy. For example, the report recommends that the solution to state overreach and abuse of power during the pandemic is to increase the powers and resources of the same two groups (politicians and the public health bureaucrats) to control our behaviour in future health emergencies.
